I was driving the back roads
today on the way to Laurel Run Park and noticed that this
area was begging for a little visitation. The cache is
located off of Mountain View Road just upstream from Bays
Mountain Falls in Smith Gap. Cache is located across
the stream away from the regular party area (CITO needs
abound) near the top of the falls. Depending on water
levels a little wading might be in order. I made it
across with the assistance of long legs and hiking
poles.
Parking is available within about
250 feet of the cache at N 36° 29.055, W
082°
42.173. Room for 1-2
cars.
The waterfall itself is located on
private land so ask for permission before going to the base of the

Cache is about a 2-quart round
plastic container with camo tape. Coordinates are accurate
within 15 feet. Signal strength wasn't great but location is
fairly obvious for those with a decent geonose. Please place
back as good or better than you found it so that others can have
the same "experience".
