A typical Tararua tramp.
The cache is located at a distinctive landmark, about 10 mins away from Blue Range Hut; a classic 1960’s built Trampers Hut, with fine views
DoC recommend 2 hours to the Hut and are pretty close. The trip out tends to be a bit quicker though – It’s downhill then. The track itself is typical Tararuas; Steep and usually muddy.
Parking and camping are available at the road end, at Kiriwhakapapa Shelter.
Cache is a 200ml screw top plastic bottle.
