Geocache Description:

The Santa Catalina mountains were named by Italian Jesuit priest Francisco Kino in honor of St. Catherine in 1697. However, the Tohono O’odham had named them “Bobad Do’ag” meaning "Frog Mountain". Apparently from the Tucson valley the mountain range resembles a frog lying down. Use your imagination and squint a bit.
The cache can be most easily located by following the Soldier trail hiking trail from the roadside parking pullout on the Catalina Highway at the following coordinates:
N 32 18.533
W 110 44.122
This parking location does not require a permit as it is located prior to the national forest permit kiosk.
It is only a 1/10 mile (500 feet) hike to the cache from the parking area HOWEVER, it is an elevation change of 125 feet ! The trail is well marked but very steep. No rock climbing is necessary but gravel on the trail can make it a bit slippery in spots so use caution and lend a hand to the kids.
Enjoy the views from the cache!
