Edinburgh may have its Lion and Unicorn - see Roolku’s cache GC17VPD - but so has Dunbar.
Perched high above the façade of an imposing tenement building (Nos 31 - 35) near the south end of the High Street, a lion and a unicorn look serenely down on the passing traffic. I wonder how many of those passing below know of their existence?
The adjacent property of Templelands was named for the Knights Templar who owned the site until 1309 when the Order was suppressed and its lands and property were given to the Order of the Hospitallers of St John of Jerusalem.
