Geocache Description:

Another cache in the "Poplar Creek Bike Trail" series, with a bit more of a bushwhack than the others. When riding the bike down this hill (coming from the west) and I look at my GPSr I always wonder why there is no cache in here yet. So now there is an ammo can to be found.

I noticed that the Poplar Creek Bike Trail doesn't really have many caches nearby that are easily accessible from the trail - so I thought I'd start adding a few. The goal of the series is encourage folks to get out on the trail, by bike or on foot, and enjoy this nice forest preserve, rather than just going for park'n'grabs.
The hides are not all quick bike'n'grabs, though, and in the summer you can expect to have to wade through some tall grasses and/or somewhat scratchy undergrowth, so dress accordingly (bike shorts may not be the ideal attire).

Somehow I always thought one of Dr. Bill's caches is in this part of the woods - but there isn't. When we ride the trail coming from the west, this is one of our favorite places, with a nice, long downhill - life is good on this stretch of trail! So here is a cache to celebrate the end of a nice downhill. When coming from the other direction (as most of you probably will) it's pretty flat to where the cache is, so nothing to worry about - unless of course you're riding on to the PCBT #5...

The bushwhack on this one is somewhat longer and wetter than I had hoped for - but at least at this time of year you get rewarded with an incredible frog concert at the end.

If you decide to ride your bike around the trail, check out my Bike'N'Bench Loop cache, which will take you around the whole 8.9-mile loop.
