Geocache Description:

This is a circular walk around the river and park at Barnstaple, which should take about one hour. Collect information at each stage to complete the co-ordinates for the actual cache, which is a tupperware box.

Barnstaple or Barum as it used to be called, was granted borough and market-town rights in the tenth century. It was mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086. At that time it was one of only four boroughs in Devon. It is the largest town in North Devon and still has many historic features, including Queen Anne's Walk, the Church of St Peter which has it's origins in the 13th century, the 14th century St Anne's Chapel, the famous Butcher's Row, the covered Pannier Market, the late Georgian Guildhall and three sets of Almshouses. There are guided walks around Barnstaple and details of these can be found from the local tourist information centre.

The co-ordinates of the final cache will be N51° 0E.BCD, W004° 0F.EAC

There is parking available next to waypoint 1 and also further down this same road.
