Before I go north next week, I want to show you something very rare on the desert. A "Night blooming Cereus". After years of watching for them, we have only found eight. They bloom only at night and in June, so we have never seen the bloom. If you find one in the winter, that bloomed the previous june, you will see a brillant red seed pod about 1- 1/4in.wide X 3 in.long. Birds will open it and spread the seeds. Please respect this plant. If you have a little extra water, give it a drink. If you find another one, Please let me know.
