This cache is located in a remote location off State Highway 24 south of the small town of Caineville, Utah.
After coming down the dugway and crossing the bridge, heading toward Caineville from Capitol Reef, turn East on 2650 North (a dirt road). Drive a little ways. if you reach the gate you have gone a little too far. There is a place to pull off the dirt road near the cache.
This cache was placed at a UFO crash site that after close observation is evidently related to other UFO crash sites in the area. Although many claim UFO sightings are figments of the imagination, the evidence in this remote location might help skeptics become believers.
In addition to the evidence is a quote from a down-to-earth local eye witness of the UFO sighting phenomenon near this area. The experience is related with the following words:
September 1965: Four of us local teenagers were on a double date. Sometime, between 10 p.m. and midnight, we decided to help ourselves to some apples from a local apple orchard. Both boys went into the orchard, leaving my friend and me in the car to wait for them. They hadn't been gone long when I saw what looked like a ball of fire in the sky; it rose in the east and continued westward. After a minute or so, the fire went out, leaving a small red dot in its place that continued westward, and then the dot turned into a ball of fire again, almost like a thruster burning. The object continued this process as it proceeded across the sky above us. There was no engine noise; no noise that would identify it as an airplane, military craft, helicopter, etc.
My friend and I continued to watch until it got directly overhead. Then in a matter of seconds, it made a 90 degree turn right above us and shot directly south over the South Caineville mesa and out of sight.
Soon after it disappeared, our dates came rushing out of the apple orchard. "Did you see that?" they asked as they jumped into the car. My friend was so “freaked out" her nose started to bleed. Her date quickly started the car and we got out of there. -R-
Whether you believe this witnesses’ tales is up to you. But your goal as a geocacher is to find a hidden cache container, examine the evidence and sign the log before extraterrestrial scientists have time to abduct you for their examination.
