The
Wild Side: BE STILL Wild Things!

#3
BE STILL Wild Things! This a wonderful spot to still the wild
things and/or yourself! Finally a regular size cache with swag fit
for a King to reward you for all your wild kingly
efforts.
Welcome to the wild side of Garland Ranch Regional Park.
This series of caches was inspired by a favorite children's book
called Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
This
is the side of Garland where the wild things roar their terrible
roars, gnash their terrible teeth, roll their terrible eyes and
show their terrible claws. So put on your Wolf suit and prepare to
become the King of the Wild Things!
Many
thanks to our friend Villageboar (one of the Wild Things) who sent
us on a private mischeivous caching journey to this unexplored (by
us) side of the park. That journey ended on a beautiful hill side
with the find of a large ammo box that contained a fine bottle of
wine and two wine glasses. Since that wouldn't quite fit the GC.com
rules, we have modified a few of Villageboar's cache locations and
swag to be part of this fun series.
Logistics: First, obtain a map of Garland Ranch Regional
Park at http://www.mprpd.org/Garland_Park_Map.pdf. This series can
be done in about 4 hours depending on your hiking / caching speed.
With the addition of the last two caches, this can now be done as a
loop.
Park
along East Garzas (at the end) near the last trailhead. You'll be
on River Trail until the first cache. From there you will be
heading up some very steep trails, but will also be rewarded with
great views. Please note, however you structure your hike, make
sure you eventually end up on the lower portion of Saddle trail for
your descent. Do not try to descend on Laureles as it will
eventually require an illegal bushwack along the river (subject to
a fine) or a long hike back on Carmel Valley Road to get to your
car. (Thanks Villageboar for this correction 3/28).
Have
a wonderful and wild journey! |
