started by Cassie's Crusaders

The Nene Way footpath starts at Badby on the western borders of Northamptonshire. It meanders along the river and takes you through small villages and towns following the Nene Valley for 110 miles. It passes through Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire before joining The Wash near Sutton Bridge. The route was opened with the support of the Countryside Commission in the late 1980's.

This cache is hidden along a stretch of Roman road between Ashton and Warmington.

The cache is now a 1/4 lt lock&lock type box, with log book and the usual swaps etc.

The Nene Way from Warmington end can be very muddy and more of a tractor highway with very little verge to walk on! I wouldn't recommend walking this stretch of the path in winter. The Nene Way from Ashton is along a lane until you pass the rifle range & farm then the last 1/8 mile can be fairly muddy. There is also a mainly grassy path from the A605 but parking could be a problem.
Good luck and please make sure the cache is completely hidden when you leave.

Oundle School Rifle Range crosses the Nene Way between Ashton and Warmington (N52 29.350 W0 25.950) – Please take notice of the signs and flags. We couldn’t see any warning signs when walking from Warmington to Ashton but there is a red & white pole and the range is just past the farm yard.
