Ern
This cache is in honour of Ern as the "mostly unremarkable" boy
genius and the area he lived and went to school in his early life.
An information sign at the site will fill you in on some of the
detail. If heading TO Nelson from here, you will pass "Monument"
(GC6713) which is a Virtual Cache marking his birthplace. If you
are going to this cache FROM Nelson, make sure you do (GC6713)
first (not required to do this cache though).
You're looking for a 1.2L camoed container with all the
usual.
Ernest Rutherford, the 1908 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and the
"Father" of Nuclear Physics, was born here, grew up here, and
managed great achievements. This is proof that anyone, anywhere,
has to potential to make a difference.
If you can't wait to come to this area and swot up on the topic,
you can visit the
Wikipedia entry.
(Thanks to Captain_S for retiring a popular cache in the area,
and TeamTWS for the container).
beltfamily geocaching notice due to recent events, please
take note of the following: We will remove any logs and/or
photographs that in OUR sole opinion had the potential to spoil
this cache for those that follow. Please be careful when writing
your logs - you will not receive a warning. Also, please take
extreme care to 1) CLOSE the cache properly, and 2) put it back THE
WAY YOU FOUND IT. Reports are coming in of watertight caches with
water in them, and caches either being exposed or impossible to
find due to people not putting it back properly. We LOVE it that
you do our caches - please don't spoil it for those that come after
you. MANY THANKS!
