I hid my first caches in Fort Ord. I can still remember the excitement of that day--hitting the trail with my burden of ammo cans and decon units.
In January 2008, with the publication of the new Fort Ord Treasure Cache Policy, it became painfully clear that my caches no longer "followed the rules"--hiding spots too far from the trail or on fuelbreak roads, camouflage clothing, locations near structures.
Unfortunately, all of them had to go.
Pushing the "archive" button was hard--picking up the containers was harder--but hardest of all was waving bye-bye to a place that I had come to think of as home.
