Geocache Description:

The Corwin Council House and Jail was built in 1897. It is comprised of two rooms. The front room was originally the Mayor's Office, but now is used for village meetings. The rear room was the Marshall's Office and jail, it is now used for storage of village records. The original jail cell stands in the NE corner and is 6 1/2' x 5 1/2' x 6 1/2'. There is a single bed and a small corner stove. The building is part of the National Register of Historic Places. It has been in use for over a century as the village council house it remains the only nineteenth century building still in use for village governmental purposes. The jail had been used for over 90 years and continues to house the only small town lock up still preserved in its original state. It is also the only small town lock up built as part of a duel governmental structure (the Mayor's Office and the Marshall's Office). Monthly council meetings have been held in this building since May 1898! The Marshall's Office has served as an office for the local Sherriff or chief of Police up until the 1980's. You can still see the jail through the windows of the council house in Corwin to this day. There will not be a hint unless people start getting stumped, but there should be no problems since it is fairly easy. The Little Miami Bike Trail is very close by.

This site has had a cache there for several years. Thanks to bcchick and others as well as ASM.

***PLEASE NOTE: THE CACHE IS NOT ON OR IN THE BUILDING.***
