A traditional cache in Lackawanna. The cache is a 30cal. ammo can.
The cache is well hidden to avoid casual detection but a clever mind should find it quickly. The cache itself contains mainly kids items including a book, some stickers, and a ball cap. There is also a Rolling Stones CD if you are a fan. I tossed in a couple of micro cache containers to spur on new cache creation. There is a log and a pencil. Please, trade fairly so that something remains for the next cacher. I included mostly kids stuff as geocaching is such a great family activity. This, of course, should never discourage the lone adult or adult couples.
Due to request, I will suggest a couple of parking areas. We parked behind the Lackawanna Senior Center on Martin Rd. and went through the park behind it. This is probably the shortest route. The only downside is that once you reach the south bank of Smoke Creek, you will have to walk a hundred yards east to cross it on an unused train bridge and then head west a short distance along the north shore.
One could also park at the VFW parking lot on South Park across from Holy Cross Cemetery or at Lackawanna Veterans Stadium on South Park. Some people use the cemetery for walking and park their cars right in the cemetery, so that is an option.
CONGRATS TO CALUMETPLACE ON THE FTF AND HIS FIRST FTF!!
