Short road walk followed by a walk down a sloped field, very sticky when wet. Wellies recommended at most times.
Fifehead Magdalen,(Pumphouse)Stour Valley Way No.2
This cache is in an ammo tin, and hidden in a copse known as Pump-House to all the local fishermen. We think this was the source of water for the village many years ago, and several indicators are there of brickwork that used to exist. There is a small pit with water in it still there, for this reason we suggest you do not do this one with kiddies in tow (just in case). As with the last one we set, it is also on the “Stour Valley Way”. Park at the Church in Fifehead Magdalen, by the fancy gates and walk a little way down the road, DO NOT take the first farm gateway on the left (although there is a footpath marker there), this is the wrong one. The one you need is the next one down on the same side. Follow the hedge line all the way down to the river at the bottom of the field. There is another stile part way down the field, but again, give this a miss. The one you want is further on. Being so close to the river, if this cache is attempted in flood conditions, the very lowest bit may be a bit wetter than usual, but the cache will still be nowhere near getting wet. Wellies will probably be needed for most of the year with this one, and from Mid June to Mid march you may come across the lesser spotted fisherman around here, they are an amiable bunch of misfits and shouldn’t give you any problems. Once you have found this, please re-hide it so it can’t be seen from any angle, as the copse can be walked right around on the outside.
