Geocache Description:

Traditional cache on the created wetlands at the Goose Pond Mountain Area. Watch out for snakes at or near GZ in the summer! Cache is a short walk from 17M.

The BluePigNinja cache is our first placed cache. Original ammo can has been lost, but StuffedPiggy kindly replaced with a new container.

Remember this is a state park so watch out for ticks and SNAKES - more than one cacher has seen a snake near GZ so just be on the look-out during the summer months!

Cache is located in the Goose Pond Mountain Area. Look for large light-grey granite boulders on the side of 17M next to the parking area. This stroller-friendly walkway doesn't get much foot-traffic.

P.S. Congrats to WaylessWood, Camo Bug, Nuckamore, and Mean Pirate for being the joint FTF!!!

BRIEF HISTORY:

The five acres of wetlands were built as compensatory mitigation for wetlands impacted at the I-86 and Exit 126 interchange project in Chester. The new wetland system was designed to be a primarily Emergent Forested Wetland, typically having saturated soil, or up to 18" of standing water for a majority of the time.
