This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

A camouflaged M&M tube hidden in the woods near Brickerville, on a hilltop, which will require bushwhacking to get to.

This cache is on State Game Lands so wearing fluorescent orange clothing is mandatory during the fall hunting season. Be aware that a Spring hunting season for turkey takes place from late April through the first half of May.

The Mourning Cloak butterfly is a harbinger of Spring when seen in late Winter. It warms the cockles of a lepidopterist's heart when this butterfly is encountered after a seemingly interminable season of cold and snow. That is exactly what happened to me while reconnoitering this patch of woods in March. This butterfly is one of only a handful that hibernate through Winter as an adult tucked away in a crevice behind some tree bark or maybe in a woodpile. Then on a mild day it will emerge and seek tree sap for an energy boost. The tendency to converge on high ground is called "hilltopping" and is the butterfly's equivalent of a singles bar as it may facilitate their finding a mate.
