Geocache Description:

First of the Newcastle Greenspace series of caches which are aimed at showing cachers the parks and gardens of the city whilst addressing Newcastle's shortage of traditional caches in which to trade items and trackables.

This cache is a small plastic container which will fit small trade items and trackables. Log book and pencil inside.

Heaton park is located between Heaton and Sandyford to the east of Newcastle City Centre. The park presently boasts shrubbery, mature stands of trees, ornamental grass areas and seasonal flower beds, it has picnic areas equipped with tables and seating, two bowling greens one with a terraced pavilion which has refreshments for sale during the summer months. There is fenced playground equipment consisting of swings, slides, climbing units, spring toys and seating.

The cache site has a great view to the North towards High Heaton and Jesmond.

Parking is located closeby at the old Heaton Library just off Heaton Park View where there are also recycling facilities.
