Welcome to Sebastian Inlet State Park, where a piece of original
Florida has been preserved for all to enjoy. The Hammock Trail is a
place where you can slow down and relax, away from the hurried
world. It takes about 45 minutes to meander down this shady path
which is approximately one mile long. As you journey down the
trail, listen to the sounds of nature; you may hear birds calling
to each other, the wind in the trees, waves pounding on the shore,
squirrels playing in the oaks, lizards scurrying across dead leaves
or the drumming of woodpeckers. The woods here are known as a
coastal, sub-tropical, palm-oak hammock. There is a mixture of
tropical and temperate plants. Palm oak, cabbage palms and live
oaks are the dominant trees here.
Enjoy your journey into the hammock. Learn by observing nature
while exercising your body and relaxing your mind.
