Geocache Description:

Ammo Can.

Cricket Creek FP is part of the Salt Creek Greenway (SCG) and was developed to mitigate flooding from the Salt Creek. Three small ponds (used during overflows of the Salt Creek); allow fishing, model boating, picnicking and a walking/cycling trail which makes this a nice area for the surrounding residential community to enjoy! I have found it a surprisingly quiet walk around the crushed limestone, 3 mile trail, considering its proximity to Rte. 83.

Current construction along the Salt Creek Greenway will one day link 30 walking/cycling/equestrian miles along the SCG ~ including links to community bike trails, The Great Western Trail and The Prairie Path.
Salt Creek Greenway Update: The Salt Creek Greenway Bike trail is nearly finished in Elmhurst. A "cog in the wheel" in what residential street to use for a link is currently being reviewed. The bike trail through Villa Park also is looking good ~ wondering how the crossing at two major arteries will take place ~ North Ave. and St. Charles Rd. I have attached a few pictures of the trail I recently took on a walk through the Elmhurst section.

Many thanks to the CITO Crew that did an AWESOME job of cleaning up Cricket Creek ~ it has never looked so good ~ I will really enjoy my walks here! As you can see we did NOT make it to ALL areas of Cricket Creek and if you can spare a plastic bag ~ bring one along and let's see if we can finish cleaning up a few more areas ~ every little bit helps!
