Geocache Description:

The actual site of the Logan wind caves is 1.3 miles above this trailhead you will not need to hike to the caves to log this cache

How do you think the Logan wind caves were formed? If you guessed by wind erosion you might want to read on.

The formation of The wind caves began far underground as water seeped through cracks deep within layers of the rock. Over long periods of time, the water slowly dissolved the stone creating large, below ground caverns. More recently, the downward cutting Logan river exposed the caves. The arches we see today were created as water continues to erode the stone formation from both ends of the cavern. The hike to the wind caves can be a bit hard for some people it is only 1.3 miles but you will climb over 900 vertical feet on the journey. to log this cache there is no need to hike up to see the caves you can find the answers for the questions at the posted coords which is a sign at the trail head.

Questions
1. What type of stone did the water break down to create this formation?
2. how many logs hold the signs at this location?
3. name three of the many listed rare plants that only grow in Logan canyon (they are on the sign to the right of wind caves sign)
