Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed as part of the Menard County Trails & Greenways and the Central Illinois Geocaching Association's Lincoln's Cache Event.
You are looking for an Ammo Can.

Grain alcohol was a common cash crop on the frontier, and was drank by the majority of the frontier population. The residents distilled their own whiskey and probably traded it to local settlers and Indians in exchange for other items. This commercial activity may have influenced John Cameron to locate his new town here.
