Geocache Description:

Laurel Theater (visit link) is a historic building in Fort Sanders. Built in 1898, it started life as the Fort Sanders Presbyterian Church. Eventually, the congregation disbanded, following which the Epworth Ecumenical congregation held services in the church for many years.

The Epworth Ecumenical congregation created the Jubilee Community Arts (visit link) organization, which manages the theater today. Nearly destroyed by fire in 1982, the community rebuilt Laurel Theater, and today it is a performance center largely given over to the traditional arts and music of Knoxville and Appalachia.

A block east of here is the James Agee geocache, and a block west is the Ronald McDonald House. Across the street is the site of the former Laurel High School (visit link) a small, private high school that used the Laurel Theater for graduations.

The cache is a small prescription bottle in camo duct tape, placed very close to the building. It is too small to hold a pen, so bring one, please. Very small trade items will fit inside.

In response to the concern about poison ivy, I checked. There are English ivy (glossy leaves), Virginia creeper (five leaves, not three), and there are some other innocuous plants as well. No "leaves of three, leave them be." Moved slightly to the left, but no new coordinates needed.
