Go just a few more feet and you will be out of the way. You will along a VERY busy highway. If you have little cachers or geopets with you keep them very close by you.

Marion, South Carolina the county seat of Marion County. A town filled with tree lined streets, Spanish moss covered quaint shops and southern charm.

The area was first settled by the Pedee, Cheraw, and Waccamaw Indians. Native Americans were attracted to the many resources provided by the nearby Little Pee Dee and Great Pee Dee Rivers. English settlers followed, migrating inland from the South Carolina coast, and by the late 1700's, the communities that eventually became Marion, Mullins, Nichols, and Sellers began to prosper.

In 1798, the county was named Marion in honor of General Francis Marion, the notorious "Swamp Fox" of the Revolutionary War. Today, a statue honoring this hero of guerrilla warfare stands in the City of Marion's square.

There is an old saying in Marion that anyone who drinks water from Catfish Creek becomes infatuated with the area and wishes to remain there.

So come find the cache but be careful of the water you drink unless you want to be a Marion resident.
