Geocache Description:

THIS AREA OPEN FROM SUNRISE TO SUNSET.

Look for a large granite stone referring to the Home at the above coordinates. The Home was built and endowed by the late William L. Gilbert, who made his mark as a clock manufacturer. His high-quality clocks were known throughout the world. Mr. Gilbert's purpose for the Home was "For the improvement of mankind by affording such assistance and means of educating the young as will help them to become good citizens." The Home served homeless and impoverished children from from April 1, 1889 till its closing in 1955. The Home was later replaced with the Gilbert School.

The William L. Gilbert Clock Company was formed on July 5, 1871 at Winsted, Connecticut. William L. Gilbert (1806-1890) was involved in various clock-making partnerships in Bristol, Farmington and Winsted, Connecticut. Today, the Gilbert Clock Shop Apartments located at 13 Wallens Street in Winsted are what remain of the William L. Gilbert Clock Corporation's Factory. Onto the cache…

In the same area there are a number of similarly-shaped stones with the names and ages of past residents of the Home.

The number of children's stones equals XX.
The sum of the children's ages equals YY.

The final is at N41 54.[79+XX]9 W073 03.[278-YY]1.

Example: XX = 14; YY = 220. Coordinates = N41 54.[79+14]9 W073 03.[278-220]1 = N41 54.939 W073 03.581.

As always, enjoy the adventure!
