Oh, but the children! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Panther in the Den: Dang!

I tried to keep this one going as long as I could. Even replaced once or twice after it closed.

Today, the building has been torn down and while there was a perfect hiding spot right there....

Thanks to all who visited!

Geocache Description:

An attractive bison.

In 1882, Julia Porter Foster dedicated an 8 bed cottage to her recently deceased son Maurice. On the corner of Halsted and Belden, Maurice Porter Memorial Hospital became the first hospital in the country dedicated solely to children and pediatrics. In 1884, Julia purchased several lots on Fullerton Av and began construction on what would become the #1 pediatric hospital in the Chicago area and be ranked in the top 20 in the USA. Today, that hospital is known as Children’s Memorial Hospital.

In addition to the treatment provided by 1100 physicians in over 70 specialties, CMH is a working medical research institution and is the pediatric training facility for Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. In 2007, CMH provided 113,352 children with healthcare including 15,726 surgical procedures, 41,853 radiology procedures and 391,970 outpatient visits.

And because of CMH, I am able to bring you this cache. It’s an easy find, marking some of Chicago’s finest. The cache is magnetic with a log only. Bring your own scribbler. There is LOTS of muggle traffic, so stay on your toes.
