Hidden in plain sight II Mystery Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Although the listed size is small, its smaller than a regular small
cache, but not really a micro. It is located in the South End of
Halifax by the Tower at Saint Mary's University.
As you may have guessed, the posted coordinates are not the actuall
coordinates. To find the actual coordinates, you need to answer the
following question:
Imagine a planet that is a perfectly smooth sphere. A rope is laid
along the surface at the equator, goes all the way around the
planet at the equator. The rope is long enough so that both ends of
the rope meet perfectly after going around. Imagine the rope is
then raised 1 meter above the ground everywhere around the equator.
How much longer does the rope now have to be so that the two ends
still meet?
The first digit of the answer = A
A+2=B
The actual coordinates are: N44deg37.BB4,
W063deg34.AB0
It can be difficult to get an accurate coordinate reading at this
location. Try to stand away from the building to get a more
accurate reading.
The Tower is home to the Saint Mary's Huskies, and the Department
of Athletics and Recreation at Saint Mary's University.
You do not need to go into the Tower (or any building) to find the
cache.
You are looking for a cache that is "hidden in plain sight". When
you get the location, you are looking for something that shouldn't
be where it is. Can you recognize a cache when you see one?
This is winter friendly as long as there isn't too much snow cover,
or very large snowbanks still remaining on the sides of the path.
Parking may be difficult on weekdays, unless you have a Saint
Mary's parking permit.
This can be a very high muggle area, especially in the school year,
so discretion and stealth are required. Please do not reveal the
location to muggles.
Although more easily found in the day, this cache is very
accessible at night but only if you know what you're looking for,
and shine your flashlight in the right direction.
