Geocache Description:

What was formerly called „the „Donkelser Wollef“ (the „wolf of Doncols“) was not a real wolf, but a man who ware a wolf seal on his head, using it thus as hat and cape . „An awful animal, I killed with a big stone“ as he told. This animal gave him his name, because he all the time had this seal like a second skin and with his beard he looked like a real wolf.

Hunting a wolf in those times was very dangerous and the government promised a reward to everyone who brought the seal of a wolf.

People told the “Donkelser Wollef” was a very good hunter.

His hunting methods were not common. He passed true the woods and met there the wolfs. They did not ran away as they did not recognize the hunter and thus he was the winner. He just had to grab the wolf before they lost their shy and ran away. You probably notice now that the “Donkelser Wollef” was a better story teller than a hunter, but his stories amused all in the lonely villages of the Ösling.

Nobody knows if his fairytales or his look-alike was responsible for his popularity. Nevertheless his personality became famous and he was at the origin of the sentence “well known as the Donkelser Wollef”.

Please respect the area and do not destroy anything.
