The 761 acres of Kaitarakihi Park were gifted to Auckland city by Wesley Spragg as an enduring memorial to his son, also Wesley, who was killed in the great war.
A monument was erected on the highest point of the park.

A = : The number of words in “Gone West” (excluding the title).
B = : Number of letters in his whole name.
C = : The day in January that he died.
D = : His age.
South Coordinate:
(A – B) + C = S
Add S to the decimal minutes of the south coordinate above
East coordinate:
D – C = E
Subtract E from the decimal minutes of the East coordinate above
The cache, a large ammo box, is a short stroll away. It is located a short distance off the track, but can be reached from relatively open ground. Please take care not to trample every plant in sight.
A seat has been provided a few meters away so that you can sign the log in comfort and take in the view. As you sit here, imagine a sunset, framed by the harbour entrance, and those words on the memorial “Gone West”
It is probably not a good idea to look for this one on Anzac day.
