Geocache Description:

Cache is a small tab-lock box with geocaching sticker, covered in black tape. The walk to the cache is uphill and over bog and shucks, requiring appropriate footwear.

Evish Hill overlooks Dungonnell Reservoir and has stunning panoramic views across Co. Antrim and much further. At the top is a cairn, which is an artificial pile of stones. It is near the entrance to Glenariff Forest Park and the Dungonnell Way, a 9.5mile walk around Glenravel glen. The Dungonnell area lies on the watershed between the source of the Glenariff River, which drops 6miles north to the sea at Red Bay and the source of the Glenravel Water, which flows south to meet the River Bann and on to Lough Neagh 30miles away.

From the Tullymore Road/Glensbrae Road take the Dungonnell Road to the reservoir
You can park your car in an old quarry at the foot of Evish Hill, co-ordinates N54* 59.808, W06* 07.915 and take the straight route up from there, or, you can park in the car park at the reservoir, N54* 59.303, W06* 08.267 and cross the road to walk up the longer, less arduous route.

We hope you enjoy this place as we do, it is very beautiful and there is a great variety of wildlife to be seen if you are lucky enough. Also, our other cache “The Pump House” is in the area, so please don’t go without visiting it too!!

No dogs please as sheep graze freely here. Please leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories (and photos!!).
