Beautiful Boranup Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, the_lazy_hiker, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

An ammo box in the Boranup Forest.

Boranup Karri Forest, within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, lies between Caves Road and the coast, and creates a powerful contrast with the rest of the coastline. Tall pale-barked karri trees, reaching 60 metres or higher, dominate the hilly slopes and valleys.

The cache is hidden next to the Cape to Cape Walk Track. It is a short walk from the Boranup Drive. The Boranup Drive is a well maintained unsealed scenic road through the Boranup Forest with a lookout, a picnic area and a campground.

There are two options to get to the cache:
You can park your car at S34°07.480 E115°03.422 and follow a small vehicle track to the Cape to Cape Walk Track crossing (approx. 1 km). Follow the Cape to Cape track in the northern direction to search for the cache.
You can also drive your car (4wd recommended, especially in winter) to the Cape to Cape Walk Track crossing and park there. Follow the Cape to Cape track in the northern direction to search for the cache.

Suggestion: There is a nice loop you could walk. After finding the cache you can follow the Cape to Cape Walk Track in northerly direction till Donovan Road. Turn right and follow Donovan Road for approximately 200m and turn right again. This road will take you back to the vehicle track.

Enjoy the Boranup Forest!
