Deutsch: 
Seit dem 10. Jahrhundert führt hier der Pilgerweg zum Grab des heiligen Jakobus des Älteren nach Santiago de Compostela in Nordwestspanien vorbei.
Im 12. Jahrhundert wurde an diesem Platz die alte Jakobskirche erbaut, die ihren Namen dem Jakobsweg verdankte. Die alte Kirche wurde um 1880 abgerissen. Die Steine wurden neben Steinen der äußeren Stadtmauer für den neuen Kirchturm von St. Jakob verwendet.
An der Stelle der alten Kirche wurde 1893 die große Kreuzgruppe aufgestellt, welche neben Christus Maria und Johannes zeigt.

Bitte verteckt den Cache wieder so, dass er so wenig wie möglich zu sehen ist.
Achtet auf die Taxifahrer-Muggels.

English:

Since the 10th century the pilgrim’s way to the grave of the apostle St. James the Great in Santiago de Compostela in the northwest of Spain passes here.
In the 12th century a church was built at this place and was named in honour of St. James. The old church got torn down around 1880. The steeple of the bigger, new church was built with stones of the old church and even with stones of the outer city wall of Aachen.
In 1893 the monument showing Mary and John next to Jesus Christ was placed here.
