Fugl Føniks,Mølleråsen Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Makuta Teridax

Geocache Description:

English: Mølleråsen means Mill Hill in English. At the top there was a wind mill at around 1830. It burnt down in 1863. You can still see where the mill and the mill house stood. The last miller, Johan Christian Olsen, lived here and had a carpenters workshop (anyone knows if this is the right translation of snekkerverksted?) here until 1903. The statue that at the top was placed here in 1971, a gift to the town from Odd Gleditch (He founded the company Jotun that produce paint and made a fortune on delivering paint to the whaling boats. Today Jotun also has production plants in various places in Asia and e.g. Saudi Arabia where they have success with their "women only" shops - something quite different from the world of whaling boat men :-). The statue is named Fugl Føniks (The Phoenix Bird). It is created by Nils Aas and can be seen from large parts of town. There are trails up here from both Dølabakken road and from Pyntestuen. From the logs: at N59 08.313 E010 13.377 is a trail head with a sign post for Mølleråsen. It goes "through" something that seems like private property. It seems like you can park at N59 08.398 E010 13.316 since no "illegal parking signs" can be found.
