Geocache Description:

Located in Fort Harrison State Park. You are looking for a camo 2-cup thermos along Camp Creek Trail. About a 2 mile (round trip) hike from parking lot at Delaware Lake. The cache is about 100 feet off the trail but heavy bushwacking is not required.

I began volunteering at Fort Harrison State Park in 2007. My first passion was trying to identify the various Wildflowers that are found throughout the park from Spring thru Fall.

And then along came Geocaching.

This is the first cache that I have placed and I decided to title it with a Wildflower theme. This particular location, down in the low wooded area behind the cache, will have a pretty good display of Green Dragon during the late Spring. This is about the only place this Wildflower appears in this particular park.

Take a Wildflower Guide along with you while you are walking the trails.

During the Spring you will find Snow Trillium, Hepatica, Bloodroot, Toothwort, Dutchman’s Breeches, Squirrel Corn, Mayapple, Spring Beauty, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Wild Ginger, Trout Lily, Golden Ragwort, Bristly Buttercup, Prairie Trillium, Fire Pink, Wild Geranium, Wild Columbine, Blue Violet, Spring Larkspur, Spiderwort, Virginia Bluebells, Blue Phlox and others.

During the Summer and Fall you can find Oxeye Daisy, Queen Anne’s Lace, Pokeweed, Common Arrowhead, White Snakeroot, Yarrow, Yellow Wood Sorrel, Early Goldenrod, Woodland Sunflower, Evening Primrose, Black-eyed Susan, Jewelweed, Downy Skullcap, Calico aster, Tall Bellflower, Heal-all, Wild Bergamot and others.

Hope you enjoy the hunt. Again, you are looking for a small camo 2-cup thermos. There is not a lot of room in it, but it will hold a couple of small items besides the log.

Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log.

1st to Find: A Gold Dollar is in the log sheet bag. It's not a lot, but hey, it's not about the money...it's about the exercise you get finding the cache.
