Geocache Description:

Tiny, high muggle density cache on the seafront.

At the Southern end of the South Eastern edge of the Island known as “The Bay Area”. From here you can “promenade” past the beach huts along the Esplanade all the way to Yaverland to the north east or a short stroll to Shanklin Chine in the south. For the less mobile a Seaside Dotto Train runs along the front and up into town.

There are several cafes along the front and on the beach serving ice creams and selling the full range of buckets, spades and inflatables. Like Sandown, the gentle shoaling sandy beach is often very crowded with the knotted hanky brigade and families in the summer months.

Also like Sandown, the town used to have a pier. Unfortunately Shanklin lost it’s pier in the “hurricane” of Oct 1987.

Due to repeated muggling this cache has been many sizes. It is has been a 1 litre pot but is currently a 35mm film pot again for the moment. Please replace tucked behind the sticking out stone with cover in it's hide. GZ is accessable in a wheelchair but recovery would be a low level stretch so could prove difficult.

This is an exceptionally high muggle area so stealth and time of the day will be important. The difficulty relates as much to the retrieving than the finding and for the summer it may be worth avoiding peak "beach time" or the evening promenade.
