Welcome to Kinston's newest attraction at NeuseWay Park - a miniature (L-Gage) train ride for kids of all ages!
A real caboose built in the early 1920's for the B&O Railroad was purchased, transported & mounted on railroad track sections, where it was refurbished by the Kinston Exchange Club & volunteers to serve as the ticket office & gift shop for the miniature railroad. The project was funded by an anonymous private donor, who got to choose the new facility's name - "Big Daddy's Express".
Few among us have ever gotten close to an authentic (& in this case, antique) railroad caboose, much less had the opportunity to explore around inside the place train crews knew as their home on the road. Perhaps needless to say, there's about a bajillion places to hide a cache on this wood & metal monster - but it is there, waiting for you to find! The higher than normal difficulty rating is based on that, and the frequently strong muggle factor.
At times the place will be literally crawling with kids & adults. You will be only a short distance from a playground area & fossil dig; there's a camper park on the premises, and you are within 100 yards of the planetarium's observing deck, where binoculars & telescopes might be in use!
STEALTH WILL BE AN EXTREMELY CRUCIAL FACTOR WHILE EXPLORING FOR THIS CACHE! BE AWARE AT ALL TIMES OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, BOTH NEAR AND FAR!! And of course this means while returning it, too!
The park is open during night hours, but it is patroled regularly by our City's Public Safety Sentinel service, who frequently park here with lights out and observe park activity. Trust me, ANY suspicious activity WILL draw their attention, as you will definitely look out of place here during those hours, so definitely not recommended. (TOLD you it'd be tough! *LOL*)
Drive carefully while in the park - watch out for kids darting from between parked cars.
