Geocache Description:

A walk to a scenic location of streams and woods, a fine example of Lancashire's hillside valleys and owned by the National Trust. The paths can get very muddy, and the approach from the west is very steep.

The streams running down from the high ground of Holcombe Moor have carved some wonderful steep-sided valleys into the hillsides and here in Lower Buckden Wood, this makes for attractive waterside scenery with little waterfalls, a variety of broadleaved trees and many types of ferns and bog plants.

Sections of the stream are also ideal for children to enjoying playing around in (carefully supervised) but please watch out for some parts where there are steep drops and the pools are deeper than you might think.

The cache is a largish box with lots of treasures for children to find and enjoy. Don't feel you have to trade equally on this cache if you want to take something that your child/children might like! Please ensure the lid is on properly as the locking flaps are a bit fiddly.
