Batty Cache Traditional Cache

The terrain is kind of rough. GPS is strongly recommended, although the location interrupts the signal sometimes. Just have to be patient and stop to let the signal catch up. Also, be careful and watch for falling limbs.
This cache is located in the Ozark National Forest, near Blanchard Springs Caverns. Follow Bluff Trail at the base of the bluffs (climb rock wall) from the parking lot to the old CCC Registry (pavilion), and then take the steps to the left that seem to lead to "nowhere". Follow the trail a short distance until you come to a large tree that has fallen across the path. Go to the base of the tree and get on the trail at the next level. Walk until you see a huge cedar tree (which can be seen from the fallen tree) and then it's uphill from there. Hope you enjoy the hike.
I would make time to visit the caves and take one of their tours while in the area. There are two tours open to the public daily during the summer, and a wild cave tour that is by reservation only. Words cannot begin to descibe the beauty of the caves and surrounding area. There are also campsites available, swimming, and picnic areas.
The cache is actually near the springs coming from the cave. Be sure to bring your camera because there are many photo opportunities on your hike. You can also hear the flow of water from the springs and creek. Hope you enjoy the scenery.
The cache is in a metal ammo box. The items placed in the original cache are:
Tick remover, photo patch, spider squishimal, coloring book, rocks book, hiking stick medallion, key ring.
Ozark National Forest permit #08100104
