Geocache Description:

"Mountain City" was Frackville's nickname at one time.

Located in Frackville, this four-stage cache will take you on a tour through one section of the borough. While it is possible to walk from one stage to the next, be careful of traffic as not all streets have sidewalks. (Also note that the last two legs of the cache will be on rough terrain that will not easily accomodate bicycles, strollers, etc.)

Each location you visit will provide information that will lead you to the next.

*An important note: This cache has been revised. The second stage was destroyed, so I'm taking that one out. Essentially, this cache is shifting from a 4-stage cache to a 3-stage cache. The other 3 cache locations are the same.

The first stage is a spot that memorializes local soldiers who perished in various wars throughout history. Start at the coordinates listed above to find two numbers. You will substitute these numbers to find the second stage by filling in the blanks:

Use number 1 to fill in: 40’ 47.***
Use number 2 to fill in: 076’ 14.***

Number 1: First, find the class year that dedicated the bronze statue. Take the last three digits of that year and subtract 819 from it. That will give you the last three digits of the first part of the next stage.

Number 2: Next, find the time capsule at the coordinates. Find the month and day (use a number to represent the month, i.e., January = 1; February = 2) it is to be opened, and add 464 to that number to get the second part of the next stage.

Use the new coordinates to find stage 2 which will contain the exact coordinates of the 3rd and final stage. (While searching for the final stage, do not cross the pole line into private property.)

Final Stage is a medium-sized Lock & Lock container filled with the usual trinkets, log book, geocaching pin and a BookCrossing.com book.

(If you find that any of my coordinates are off, please let me know so I can adjust them accordingly. Thank you!)
