Geocache Description:

Take a short stroll through downtown Maysville, KY.

Like most puzzle caches, the posted coordinates are not the location of the cache. The coordinates will take you to a fountain in Downtown Maysville. From there, you will need to follow the posted waypoints, including the fountain, to find the necessary information to get the coordinates of the cache.

Along the way, you will find the sites to two movie premiers, as well as famous explorers and generals.

I’ve used initials in the clues in an attempt to “Google proof” this cache. If I’ve done my job right, you will easily be able to decipher the initials when standing in front of the signs. The coordinates are of the form

N 38 AB.CDE
W 083 FG.HIJ
  • A = the first digit of the age at which W. G. K. became Speaker of the Kentucky House
  • B = the number of letters in the hometown of Col. P. W. B.
  • DC = the number of small columns on the balcony above the entrance to the W. O. H.
  • E = the number of years before 2000 that the R. C. M. F. was launched
  • F = the number of members of the 1787 Board of Trustees for Limestone not named Boone.
  • G = the first digit of the number of years that L. C. lived near his marker
  • H = the last digit of the year that “Save the Russell” bought the Russell Theater
Edit: The sign with the answer has been removed. According to the missing sign, the Russell Theater was purchased in 1995.
  • I = the sum of the middle two digits of the year in front of the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center
  • J = the second digit of the day of the month Gen. G. S. P. dedicated the Jaycee War Memorial

The total walking distance to get all the information and the cache is around 1.2 mi. All waypoints are handicapped accessible, and most of the final hike is accessible also. There is parking available near the posted coordinates.

This cache was inspired by the South Milwaukee Historical Tour, a cache that I did not get to finish before moving to Kentucky.

The cache is a brown Tupperware-like container. It contains some small trade items, and a MCTC lanyard and flash drive for the FTF.

Warnings:

There may be more than one useful sign at each location. Look at both sides of each sign if possible.
