Geocache Description:

The O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail follows the old aqueduct from O'Shannassy Weir at East Warburton, to Don Valley where it meets Coranderrk Aqueduct which runs from Badger Weir (near Healesville). It is very level and great for walking or bike riding. There are some great views along the way as you walk through beautiful fern gullies and mountain ash forest. These caches are designed to be done as a continueous ride/walk, or you can park at a start/finish point and walk in and back from there.

You can start this cache from Warburton at the top of Yuonga Rd, or from Millgrove at the top of Dee Rd (better parking and a number of picnic tables). Take note of the number of methods used to direct and govern the flow of water. Also how the creeks were piped over or under the aqueduct to keep the water unpoluted. There is also a section where the wall gave way and parts of Millgrove were flooded with muddy water, this section of aqueduct had to be rebuilt with timber supports and steel channel. Note: the cache itself is off the track a few metres and wouldn't be accessable from a wheelchair.
