Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

The posted coordinates will take you to the front of the new University of California, Riverside, Student Commons, near the center of the UCR campus. From this vantage point, you can spot, off in the distance, up to 6 display cases at various locations that each contain a campus map and directory. Each of these maps are unique, and some are quite confusing with conflicting instructions for finding the direction of north. For example, see the picture of one of these maps below.

To find the cache, you must travel 1414 feet due north (or due south--it's so confusing) from the location of the map that is pictured. There you will find a tiny micro cache and its log. Bring your own writing instrument.

Did you know that UCR used to offer degrees in Geography? These degree offerings were discontinued in 2000. Is it a coincidence that confusing maps now appear on campus?

Note added 10-29-10: A less confusing map has now replaced the one in the picture above. It is from this map--that you must find--where you start your search as described above.

You can park on the UCR campus in visitors’ lots for $1/half hour. Waypoints for some of these lots are given below. This area is full of muggles during the day. Nights and weekends are a better time to find this and other UCR caches.
