Why have one cache when you can have two! Find Part 1 and you’ll know what to do. As the crow flies makes it seem very near but stick to the path, it’s easier my dear. In spring it’s the ticks and summer horse flies, but the swimming hole there is a nice surprise. We hope you enjoy your walk in the woods and are lucky enough to find all the goods.
For many many years, Bare Hole has been a favorite swimming spot for locals and visitors who have been lucky enough to find it. The story is told that the pile of rocks in the middle (seen when the river is lower) was created as local boys took rocks from the bottom to make the swimming hole deeper. Quite a job I’d say and greatly appreciated. We often make a stop here on our way home from the beach to wash off the sand and shampoo our hair. So, if you visit on a warm summer day, take along your togs and towels or not as the name implies.
The caches could be described as “tree huggers” and are accessible in winter depending upon your sense of adventure. Part 1 is a micro containing the coordinates to Part 2 and a log. Part 2 is a regular cache (lg peanut butter jar) approximately 5-10 minute walk from Part 1 containing small trade items and a log. Oh yes, please be nice to the small critters you may come across (tadpoles, frogs, snakes, squirrels, beaver, porcupines, etc) this is their home and you are a visitor.
