In Machimoodus State Park, off the Upper Vista Trail.
Machimoodus is the Indian word for the famous "Moodus Noises", strange audible rumblings that are seismic in origin and that figure prominently in Native American lore. The noises, described as similar to distant thunder or cannon fire, were likely caused by earthquakes otherwise too small to notice. According to local Indian legend, Hobomoco was a god who sat on a sapphire throne and decreed all human calamity. Hobomoco’s thunder was sometimes loud and violent and at other times soft and gentle. This cache is to honor his memory.
Machimoodus State Park is located on Rt. 151 in Moodus. There are several caches located in the park along a 2.25 mile loop trail.
You are looking for a 30mm ammo can hidden off the Upper Vista Trail on the way to a beautiful scenic overlook of the Salmon and Connecticut Rivers.
