Geocache Description:

We have been driving past this spot for the past fifteen years. But only recently did we notice the cemetery.

The sign out front names this as Bethel Cemetery. Research turned up two other names that had been used in the 1800's, the Hoffman Woods Cemetery and the Wilson Sawyer Farm Cemetery. The caretaker told us that he had also seen it reffered to as the Little Bethel Cemetery, but he says locals just call it the FEDEX Cemetery today.

The oldest gravestone that we could read was for Marium Boswell, died March 5, 1818. There are many stones of that era that are no longer legible.

War of 1812 veteran, Robert O. Leeman was buried here in 1837. He served as a Lieutenant in the 2nd Regiment of the Kentucky militia. We also found several Civil War soldiers buried here.

Most of the legible stones appear to be in the late 1800's. There are several that were buried here in the early 1900's, mostly ones from families that are predominate in this cemetery. The most recent we could find was Issac Reuben Bailey, buried here in 1931.

Any other information that anyone can supply would be greatly appreciated. This cache was placed with permission of the caretaker. No night caching allowed!!!! Please be respectful of the cemetery. Plenty of parking available. Cache is a camo prescription bottle. FTF is a two euro coin.
