A cache just off the main road, between Perranporth and Goonhavern, with one wooden stile to cross.
"Perran Round" is the best surviving example of a Plen-an-Gwary ( a Cornish Medieval Amphitheatre ) in the county. Cornish language miracle plays were performed here throughout the Middle Ages.
The earlist plan of the site was produced by William Borlase in 1758. His depiction of the Round shows it much as it is now, with two opposed entrances and the "Devils Frying Pan" ( A hollow with a trench extending to the eastern arena ).
As the best preserved Plen-an-Gwary, the Round is seen as an Iconic site for Cornwall. The Cornish Gorseth has held many annual ceremonies within the Round.
