The oldest cache in Oman. Jebel Sumayni, on the wrong side of the
keyhole. THIS CACHE SHOULD BE AVOIDED IN RAINY CONDITIONS.
The walk takes you through a wadi, and should be avoided if rain is
nearby. Reaching the cache without a 4X4 is possible (park near the
paved road), but will add at least another hour to the roundtrip. A
4X4 is required to reach the nearest parking area. There is a great
place to camp at the beginning of the walk. Reaching the cache from
the parking area will take about 30 or 40 minutes (if you are
clever, or if you use the cheat-sheet available in “Why not
go find Pirelli?” GC1657B cache). The roundtrip should take
about 2 hours, allowing time to find the cache and take in the
scenery. According to Patrick LaRocque and Andrew Foley, who
originally placed the cache, it contained "a Logbook, camera (27
shots) and 27 vouchers for Pirelli stuff (hats, keychains, some
watches, shirts, etc). Pirelli gave it to us so it’s the
Pirelli cache." It now contains several items I left behind when I
replaced the cache in April 2007.
