The Bulldog of Bergen Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no response to my earlier post, I'm archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact me (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

In the heart of the Great Depression, the nation found a hero in New Jersey native, James Braddock, The Cinderella Man, aka the Bulldog of Bergen. Braddock, a heavyweight boxer with an unimpressive record (45-29-9) and a string of injuries, but a lot of heart, somehow managed to earn a shot at the title against heavyweight champion, Max Baer, a notorious puncher who had killed two men in the ring. The odds of Braddock beating Baer were 1000:1. In one of the most stunning upsets in boxing history, Braddock won the fight and the title and the hearts of all Americans.

In honor of Braddock's achievements, both in and out of the ring, his hometown of North Bergen, New Jersey renamed the North Hudson County Park to James J. Braddock North Hudson Park. The cache is hidden in this park.

Cache is well-hidden but very easy to access. Container is an airtight clear plastic food container and contains a selection of trinkets, a logbook/pen.
