Old, Old 52 Traditional Cache

Parking is at N40.08.724 W086.34.908. Please do not just park anywhere along the road, park where there is an area that lets you be clearly off of the road. Please attempt this cache from the northbound lane only. Cache container is a large, clear lock-n-lock with log, trade items and a $ for FTF. DO NOT DRIVE BACK TO THIS CACHE.
US 52 runs from Charleston SC to Portal ND. It was originally formed from Charleston NC to US 41 in Indiana in 1926. By 1935 it had been extended to ND to the Canadian border. The road runs northwest/southeast and is the exception to the e/w designation for even numbered roads. The designation changes from e/w to n/s depending on the local orientation of the road. In Boone County it crosses Sugar Creek. When they changed the road from two lanes to four lanes they moved the road west. While the pavement is gone the old roadbed remains. There are patches of pavement along the edges and at the creek end of the road. We saw several varieties of birds and lots of deer tracks as we walked back to place the cache. Enjoy the nature as you walk back to find this cache.
