Geocache Description:

Nice little parking area just off Shore Road.

Pocasset River an area of critical environmental concern.

The 160 acre Pocasset River ACEC includes salt marsh, flood plain, tidal flats, fresh water ponds, streams and forests.

These areas filter pollutants from the surrounding development and provide habitat for fish and wildlife in our region.

HISTORY
From the earlest use of the area by the Native Americans, the Pocasset River has been an important part of Bourne's culture.

In the Four Ponds Area, an iron foundry was located dating back to the 1700's and a fish hatchery and club existed from 1880-1950 between shop and mill ponds.
